What do we mean by innovation?

There are lots of ways to define innovation.

When we talk about innovation at GST Charities, we’re talking about a structured approach to delivering positive change. For us, innovation is a tool and mindset that will help us to:

Deliver our organisational strategy

Embed new, efficient ways of working

Catalyse culture change more widely

It's using an insight-based approach to understand a problem and generating a solution before testing and refining it.

Remember, it's not just about developing big shiny new creations (although we love this!). Innovation can be small tweaks or iterations to gradually improve something.

Why are we innovating?

Innovation is one of our strategic enablers. We recognise that we need to do things differently to achieve our ambitions.

To get somewhere different, we’ll need to do something different, and put the resources behind it.

At GST Charities we use the IMPACT Innovation Framework- a structured approach to innovation built specifically for the charity sector.

This toolkit is designed to walk you through each phase of this framework so that you can implement innovation practices into your day-to-day and use tool and templates that have been standardised for cross team use.
