SCAMPER
What is it?
SCAMPER refers to a series of thought starters which help you to innovate on an early stage idea by looking through different lenses. It's an acronym for:
Substitute- What can be replaced?
Combine- What features, uses or components can be combined?
Adapt- What can be slightly tweaked to improve the product or process?
Modify- How can the process/product be changed in a way that changes the outcomes?
Put to another use- What benefits might be gained by using the process/product in a different area?
Eliminate- What can be removed or simplified?
Reverse- What can be rearranged, flipped, or swapped?
When to use it?
To collaboratively develop ideas as a team. Use in the latter half of ideation once you have reduced the number of ideas to those with the most potential.
